I'll update the original free version with the info on which new components to use for easier assembly, so if you don't care about having a nicer brace that's still an option. Jordan has simplified the process a lot, so that there will be only minimal soldering - you won't need a perf board anymore, resistors or capacitors. I've created a new $10 tier called Fairy Alchemist in my Patreon, where the 3D print files will be offered. We're working on a cover for it as well that I will make pretty, but we'll first release the brace and shaft pieces without it so you can get to making if you don't mind crafting your own cover in the meantime.
Jordan has been hard at work improving upon the mechanical flapping wings for me, and it's almost ready - he just needs to tweak a couple small things on the new original 3D printed back brace design to make a cover fit better and allow for a potential corset attachment. While not complicated, this tutorial is not intended for the novice, as some soldering skills, use of programmable microcontrollers and knowledge of 3D printing is required. If you're creating your costume too, you can consider sewing a hidden pocket into your costume where the power pack can hide. I am using Photoshop Elements 2.0 for this tutorial, but anything in the same league as Photoshop and PaintShopPro will work. This flapping wing design has a battery pack that will need to be held somehow, I've tucked the power pack into my leaf belt pouch myself. This tutorial assumes that you (the viewer) have a decent knowledge of Wings 3d and a good familiarity with your paint program. If you are working with any other type of wings you will need to figure out a way to make the attachment work. You might be able to drill matching holes in some of my older designs like the Platinum Collection *if* the base is wide enough and you're willing to cut them off of their existing attachment. The holes in the servo attachments are made to work with the standard sized convertible wing panels I make.
This new tutorial is made with Fancy Fairy Wings & Things' Ethereal Collection fairy wings in mind specifically. The cover page will be changed when the Wings3D Handbook is near completion.

It's finally here! Although we did shoot some video, we're releasing the full text tutorial first & made this the priority as it is more complete and we usually prefer this format ourselves for instructionals.
